Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how berenolix uses them on this website, and how you can manage your preferences. This policy supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle personal data more broadly.

1) What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They help websites remember information about your visit, such as your language, session state, and consent choices. Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies), while others stay on your device until they expire or you delete them (persistent cookies).

In addition to cookies, some technologies used for measurement and advertising operate similarly to cookies. These include pixel tags (small snippets of code that register an event like a page view) and server-side event sharing. Where these technologies are used, they are treated under the same consent categories described below.

2) First-party and third-party cookies

First-party cookies are set by the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies are set by a domain other than the one you are visiting, usually by service providers that support analytics or advertising. We aim to keep third-party use limited and transparent.

3) The cookie categories we use

berenolix uses three cookie categories: Essential, Analytics, and Marketing. Essential cookies are required for the site to function and are always active. Analytics and Marketing cookies are optional and only activate after you provide consent using the cookie banner or the cookie preferences panel.

A) Essential cookies (always on)

Essential cookies support core site functions, such as basic session continuity and saving your cookie preference choices. Without essential cookies, parts of the site may not work properly. These cookies do not require consent under applicable rules because they are necessary to deliver the website service you request.

B) Analytics cookies (consent required)

Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are visited and how long users spend on each page. We use this information to improve lesson pages, navigation clarity, and content structure. Where configured, analytics can use IP anonymization. Analytics cookies are only set if you choose “Accept All” or enable Analytics in the cookie preferences panel.

Our analytics configuration may use Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Retention is typically set to 14 months for analytics event data.

C) Marketing cookies (consent required)

Marketing cookies are used to measure conversions and show relevant advertising. They can help us understand whether an ad led to a registration request and can support remarketing (showing ads to people who previously visited the site) and lookalike audiences (finding people with similar characteristics to visitors).

Marketing cookies are only set if you choose “Accept All” or enable Marketing in the cookie preferences panel. If you reject non-essential cookies, marketing cookies remain off.

4) Cookie table

The table below lists common cookies associated with our site categories. Some cookie names and identifiers may vary depending on configuration and the tools enabled with your consent.

Name Purpose Category Type Retention
_site_session Site session continuity Essential First-party Session
cookie_consent Stores your consent choice Essential First-party 12 months
_ga GA4 user identifier Analytics Third-party 2 years
_ga_XXXXXXXXXX GA4 session state (10-character GA4 ID) Analytics Third-party 2 years
_gcl_au Google Ads conversion linker Marketing Third-party 90 days
_fbp Meta Pixel browser identifier Marketing Third-party 90 days
_fbc Meta Pixel click identifier Marketing Third-party 90 days

5) Third-party providers

Depending on your choices, cookies and related identifiers may be associated with the following providers:

  • Google LLC (Analytics and Ads measurement): https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • Meta Platforms (advertising measurement): https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy
  • Cloudflare (security and performance): https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

We do not permit these providers to use site data for their own independent commercial purposes.

6) How to manage cookie preferences

You can control optional cookies in three ways:

  • Cookie preferences panel: Use the “Manage cookie preferences” link in the footer to review and update your Analytics and Marketing settings.
  • Browser settings: Your browser can delete or block cookies. If you block essential cookies, the site may not function correctly.
  • Provider opt-out tools: Some providers offer opt-out tools for analytics and ads.
